SURROUNDINGS

GariotteGariotte In and around the Mas de Nadal site there are some wonderful walks. There are many old boundary walls meandering over the wooded hillsides, also several "gariottes", the shepherds’ ancient stone shelters.
The site is situated on the limestone causse to the north of the Célé Valley. Biking around Mas de Nadal is a wonderful way of exploring the area. The lanes are quiet and traffic is almost non-existent, or if you wish to go "off road" there are miles of tracks criss-crossing the causse. Most weeks we take a walk to a neighbouring cave.

The diversity of nature is overwhelming, the site is lush with stocky oak trees, box and juniper bushes. Wild roses, strawberries, blackberries, walnut trees, and truffles the size of a fist, hawthorns, figs, honeysuckle and orchids also grow in abundance.

Grande RandonneeGrande Randonnee Alongside our park the Grande Randonnée 651, but there are other walks, each with its own appeal. Within walking distance of Mas de Nadal is the outdoor museum of Cuzals, which covers the history of rural Quercy. These same tracks make the area a paradise for the walker, whether you require a short stroll after dinner or a full days hike.

The River Célé is a great place to go canoeing, swimming and fishing for both young and old. In nearby Cabrerets are the famous prehistoric caves of Pech-Merle with beautiful rock drawings and the accompanying museum.

Shopping is at 9 km distance in Marcilhac or Cabrerets. In both villages there is an épicerie, a bakery and post office. Cash may be with drawn at the A.T.M in Cajarc, and of course in Figeac and Cahors. There is a doctor’s surgery in Cajarc and also a pharmacy, butcher, bakery, supermarket and wine shop, newsagent/bookshop, and the Pompidou museum.
The department of the Lot will offer you a great variety off museums, chateaux, landscapes and small towns.
